Day 33 - Whitehorse

We slept in a bit as this is a non- travelling day. We are staying in Whitehorse. We headed downtown and she went into Canadian Tire to pick up something. Says it is at least twice the size of ours. Seems to be a pretty new place. We then went to the Information Centre and then on to the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre. This is me beside a few Mammoth replicas. She went inside to see the exibits and a couple of short films on Bringia and Yukon. I stayed in the car. Not too bad as was in the shade and it is a cooler day today.
In the afternoon we headed towards Carcross to see the desert. As the sign indicates this is the smallest desert. Afterwards we stopped at Caribou Crossing Trading Post. They have an exhibit of animals and a lady, Michelle Phillips, who does the 1000 mile Yukon Quest explains about dog racing. She wants to win it so next February we should cheer for her! They provided rides in buggies hooked up to the dogs. I could hear the dogs asking to be picked each time a set up was done. There were about 50 dogs - all wanting their turn.
We then headed back into town, had supper and spent the evening doing laundry and getting ready for tomorrow - on to Dawson City.
Of couse there were more spectacular mountains to see today and we will get pictures up soon, I hope.
